Course Description

This program provides a fundamental and comprehensive understanding of the vital role played by International Organizations (IOs) and how International Treaties shape global relations and international law. Participants will explore the theoretical and practical aspects of IOs, including their establishment, internal structure, powers, and decision-making mechanisms. Key organizations like the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), and specialized agencies will be used as case studies.

A significant portion of the course focuses on the Law of Treaties, emphasizing the rules outlined in the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (VCLT). Topics covered include treaty formation, interpretation, entry into force, reservations, and termination. The program analyzes the legal impact of IO resolutions and treaties across critical global issues such as trade, security, human rights, and environmental protection. By integrating foundational legal concepts with practical examples, learners will develop the necessary analytical skills to assess the function and effectiveness of these crucial entities in contemporary global governance.
